Mike Monteiro is currently employed as an Ergonomic Consultant for the Beacon Mutual Insurance Company in Rhode Island . Mike, who earned his B.S. in 1993 and M.S. in 2000 from the University of Rhode Island , comes from a large Cape Verdean population in the New England area. While serving in the U.S. Air Force in Germany , where he played football in the USAFE Conference, Mike discovered his love for athletic training after finding himself on the receiving end of a knee injury.

Prior to his current position in the corporate/industrial setting, Mike served as the Athletic Trainer for the University of Rhode Island Men 's Basketball Team and Assistant Athletic Trainer for the Providence Bruins (American Hockey League). Mike has served as the District One EDAC Representative since 2005 and is a former President of the Rhode Island Athletic Trainer's Association. Mike enjoys spending time with family and friends, sports, comedy, writing and learning about various cultures.
